Pere Gimferrer, editor of Seix Barral, went to Granada, a friend gave him my book, Gimferrer read it and called to say he liked it. It was a tremendous impact, because I was used to nobody paying attention to me. When I sent him the novel I was writing and he told me he wanted to publish it, it was the joy of my life. And I think a lot about what would have happened if I had not published that first book, if Gimferrer had not gone to Granada. It’s a lesson in humility, because there are many people with a lot of talent who don’t achieve anything, or achieve much less.[4] In 2012 he donated to the National Library of Spain the work of Gimferrer.
In 2012 he donated to the Biblioteca Nacional a part of his writings, such as, for example, notebooks of notes taken from books and newspapers, drafts of novels, unpublished poems from his youth and an unpublished play written in 1974.[7] In 2013 he was awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for Letters.[8] In 2013 he was awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for Letters.[9

And you find it funny when I embarrass you? Yes, very funny. Elvira is a great humorist. Literature is like that, it takes matters of reality and transforms them into fiction, and sometimes you don’t know how to tell them apart. What alerts you to the game is precisely the irony. As a reader, it amuses me and I admire it, because making humor, making fun of oneself without cruelty, is very difficult. As an author, I like to see how others turn everyday experience into fiction: it is one of the most beautiful things in literature. Besides, it doesn’t matter to AMM that others misinterpret him in this kind of caricature that his wife makes of him. I know that there are malicious people, who always interpret with meanness, but it doesn’t worry me. I am aware of the literary value and tenderness in what Elvira writes.
I have been able to dilute comments and it no longer worries me. What we write, our styles and our way of seeing life are very different, so there is no friction, although he writes in a comic key and I, seriously. Clarified.
